Just 17 percent of NAR member agents use blogs, RSS feeds and podcasts on a regular basis, according to the results of a survey by the US National Association of Realtors.
The results of the 2009 National Association of Realtors Member Profile are based on 8,113 responses, and also report that 78 percent of members use mobile phones and 42 percent use smart phones with wireless e-mail and Internet capabilities.
While the reported use of blogs, RSS feeds and podcasts was relatively low, 9 out of 10 respondents said they do use computers and email daily or nearly every day. The exact definition of ‘use’ was not specified, however the NAR reports that the number of blog, RSS and podcast users has increased from 12 percent in 2008.
The NAR also concludes from the survey: “The typical member received four inquiries over the past year from a personal Web site, which accounted for 3 percent of their business.”
The response rate to the survey is also worth noting – just 8.2 percent of the 99,533 members surveyed filled out their member profile.
